CEE grants 2026: Coup de pouce and MaPrimeRénov'

CEE energy-saving grants at 11 October 2026: how they work, Heating and Major Renovation Coup de pouce, x5 and x2 bonuses, combining with MaPrimeRénov'.

In short

CEE grants (primes CEE, or “energy grants”, from the certificats d’économies d’énergie, energy saving certificates) are paid by energy suppliers, which are required to fund energy savings. They are open to all households, for a home built at least 2 years ago, with a RGE contractor (France Rénov’). In 2026, three Coups de pouce (“boost” schemes) increase the bonus on certain works. The Heating Coup de pouce multiplies by 5 the certificates for a heat pump or biomass boiler replacing a coal, oil or gas boiler. The Major Renovation Coup de pouce multiplies them by 2. For the Heating Coup de pouce, the minimum amounts in the former charters no longer apply to operations started since 1 January 2026: each supplier sets its own grant. The Major Renovation and collective High-performance Renovation Coups de pouce still set minimum amounts (Ministry for Ecological Transition). The grant can be combined with single-measure MaPrimeRénov’ and the éco-PTZ. For a major renovation, it is the Anah (the national housing agency) that collects the CEE on your behalf (service-public.gouv.fr).

How the scheme works

The scheme was created by articles 14 to 17 of Act no. 2005-781 of 13 July 2005 (the loi POPE, energy policy act). It places on energy sellers, the obligés (obligated parties), an energy-saving obligation expressed in certificates: 1 CEE = 1 kWh cumac of final energy. Cumac stands for “cumulated and discounted”: the savings achieved over the whole lifetime of the equipment are added together, discounted at 4% a year (Ministry for Ecological Transition). The sixth period of the scheme covers 2026 to 2030.

To obtain their certificates, the obligated parties fund works in private homes. The help may take the form of a grant, a voucher or a discount on the bill (France Rénov’).

Eligibility conditions

According to France Rénov’, the conditions are as follows:

  • a main or second home built at least 2 years ago;
  • works that improve the home’s energy efficiency;
  • a RGE (reconnu garant de l’environnement, environmentally certified) firm or tradesperson;
  • works that comply with a fiche d’opération standardisée (standardised operation sheet): loft, wall or floor insulation, windows, air-to-water, water-to-water or air-to-air heat pumps, biomass boiler, wood stove, solar water heater, controls…

Key point: the supplier’s offer must be accepted before you sign the quote. For a single operation, you can receive only one CEE grant (Ministry, Heating Coup de pouce).

Heating Coup de pouce: conditions and income caps

It is open to all households, but only for a main residence for heat pumps (operations started since 1 October 2025), the combined solar system and connection to a heat network (since 1 January 2026). The heat pump must have a seasonal efficiency of at least 111% (medium or high temperature) or 126% (low temperature). The old boiler must be removed by the professional and this must be stated on the invoice. The list of offers was updated on 6 October 2026.

“Modest household” income caps used to adjust the grants (in force since 1 January 2026):

Major Renovation Coup de pouce. It targets households not eligible for Anah grants; the ministry cites owners of main residences under 15 years old and social landlords. The works must achieve a gain of at least 2 classes and include at least 2 insulation items among walls, lower floors, roof and windows. The arrêté (ministerial order) of 7 January 2026 extended it and removed the deadline for completing the works. Since 17 January 2026, second homes have been excluded. The signatory must offer assistance à maîtrise d’ouvrage (project-management support for the owner) and a financing plan.

Co-ownership buildings. The collective Coup de pouce is for buildings where at least 75% of the lots (or of the tantièmes, ownership shares) are main residences, 65% for copropriétés (co-owned buildings) of 20 residential lots or fewer. The copropriété must be registered.

Combining with MaPrimeRénov’ and the éco-PTZ

  • Single-measure MaPrimeRénov’: can be combined with CEE paid directly by suppliers. You must declare all grants received to the Anah (service-public.gouv.fr).
  • MaPrimeRénov’ Major Renovation: you do not apply for CEE yourself. The Anah applies on your behalf and includes them in calculating the grant; you undertake not to make a personal application (service-public.gouv.fr). The Major Renovation Coup de pouce is not available if you are eligible for this route (France Rénov’).
  • Éco-PTZ (zero-rate eco-loan): can be combined with CEE (service-public.gouv.fr). The Heating Coup de pouce can also be combined with MaPrimeRénov’ and the éco-PTZ, but not with another CEE offer (ministry).

FAQ

Can I apply for the grant after signing the quote?

No. The supplier’s offer must be accepted before the quote is signed, otherwise the operation cannot be counted (Ministry for Ecological Transition).

Is the Coup de pouce grant amount set by the State?

For the Heating Coup de pouce, no: since 1 January 2026, the minimum amounts in the former charters no longer apply. The State sets the bonus in certificates and each supplier sets its grant. The Major Renovation and collective High-performance Renovation Coups de pouce still set minimum amounts; for multi-occupancy buildings, €27 or €41 per m² of living area (Ministry for Ecological Transition).

Can I combine two CEE grants for the same heat pump?

No. A beneficiary can claim only one CEE grant for a single operation.

Is my second home eligible?

For standard CEE grants, yes: France Rénov’ covers main or second homes built at least 2 years ago. For the Major Renovation Coup de pouce, no, since 17 January 2026.

Can I remove the old boiler myself?

No. Removal by the homeowner rules out the Coup de pouce bonus.

Which professional to consult

To find out the starting energy class, have a DPE (energy performance certificate) carried out by a diagnostiqueur (property surveyor). The remaining cost after grants can be financed with an éco-PTZ: a courtier en crédit (mortgage broker) compares offers. If you are buying a home to renovate, the agent immobilier (estate agent) and the notaire (notary) help you factor this budget into the negotiation.
