How does Payotte choose a firm?
On a public 100-point scale, the same for everyone: Google reviews (35), age of the company at the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (30), declared and checkable title (15), local presence (15) and bonus (5). The best-scoring firm in each municipality and trade is selected from 70/100; from 50 to 69, its profile is marked "partial". The method in detail.
How many firms has Payotte selected?
52 profiles are published in Brussels and Waterloo, for 46 different firms, in 20 municipalities. There are 81 spots (one per trade and municipality): 29 stay empty, because no firm reaches the threshold. Wallonia is covered in French at payotte.com/belgique and Flanders in Dutch at payotte.com/belgie.
Can a firm pay to be selected?
No. Payotte is free, with no ads and no commission: no spot can be bought and no ranking is paid. A firm can correct or complete its profile for free; the score only changes if the scale provides for it.
Does Payotte check the firm's title for me?
No. The profile shows the title the firm declares and the body where you can check it yourself: the IPI for an estate agent, the FSMA for a credit broker, notaire.be for a notary, the Order of Surveyors-Experts, or the Walloon list of approved EPB assessors.
Why companies and never people?
Because a firm is judged on public data (company number, age, reviews, address) and no person's name is published. A company whose name is a person's name has no profile, unless it uses a neutral trading name.
