Maharashtra's figure here is stamp duty only. It is set at 5 per cent inside municipal corporation limits, and lower, 4 per cent, for village land. On ₹50 lakh that means ₹2,50,000, and on ₹1 crore it means ₹5,00,000. These amounts are a minimum because the registration fee is missing: no official fee table could be read, so it is not included. The duty rates have applied since 7 September 2017, and the same table lists the gram panchayat rate separately.
The value on which duty is charged is taken from the Annual Statement of Rates, commonly called the ready reckoner. The duty is overseen by the Inspector General of Registration, who also acts as Controller of Stamps, while deeds are handled by the Registration and Stamps Department, Maharashtra. Because the fee is missing, a buyer should add it before budgeting.
Maharashtra counted 14,04,013 houses sanctioned under PMAY-Urban by 28 September 2026. Of these, 11,02,917 are completed, which is 79%, and 10,37,651 are occupied. Another 1,08,072 are still under construction.
A project's registration can be looked up with the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority. The cities Payotte covers in the state are Kalyan-Dombivli, Mira-Bhayandar, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Thane and Vasai-Virar.
