How much does an appeal cost?

Nothing at the PVSC stage. PVSC says: "There is no fee to file an assessment appeal."

Who assesses property in Nova Scotia?

The Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC), which assesses every property in the province every year and sends the roll to the 49 municipalities.

What is the CAP?

The Capped Assessment Program limits the yearly increase in the taxable assessment of eligible residential property to Nova Scotia’s CPI. The 2026 CAP rate is 2.6%, according to PVSC.
