The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in New South Wales?

In New South Wales, the First Home Owner Grant is $10,000 for a new or substantially renovated home worth up to $600,000, or up to $750,000 for a land plus building contract. The buyer must live there for 12 continuous months.

The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in Victoria?

In Victoria, the First Home Owner Grant is $10,000 for a new home worth up to $750,000 that has never been sold, occupied, leased or used for short-term accommodation. The buyer must live there 12 months.

The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in Queensland?

In Queensland, the First Home Owner Grant is $30,000 for a new home valued at less than $750,000, including land and contract variations, for contracts from 20 November 2023. The 2026 State Budget page says the grant is continued for contracts from 1 July 2026.

The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in Western Australia?

In Western Australia, the First Home Owner Grant is up to $10,000 for a new or substantially renovated home. For transactions from 7 May 2026 the value cap is $800,000 south of the 26th parallel and $1,000,000 north of it.

The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in South Australia?

In South Australia, the First Home Owner Grant is up to $15,000 for buying or building a new home that will be the principal place of residence.

The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in Tasmania?

In Tasmania, the First Home Owner Grant is $20,000 for an eligible transaction commencing on or after 1 July 2026 and before 1 July 2027, completed within 24 months. It is for a newly built home or building a new residence.

The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in Australian Capital Territory?

In the ACT, the First Home Owner Grant amount has been a nil amount since 1 July 2019. ACT home buyers use the duty concession scheme instead.

The First Home Owner Grant: what applies in Northern Territory?

In the Northern Territory, the First Home Owner Grant is $50,000 for transactions commencing from 1 October 2025 to before 1 October 2027, and $10,000 from 1 October 2027. Only a new home qualifies for purchase contracts since 1 October 2025.
