Real estate agents in Massachusetts: what buyers ask
Who pays the real estate agent in Massachusetts?
Commissions are negotiable and not set by law. Since August 17, 2024, offers of compensation are banned from the MLS and buyers sign a written agreement first.
What must a seller disclose in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts does not require a general property condition form. A seller must give the buyer the state lead notice before the purchase and sale agreement is signed (M.G.L. c. 111, 197A), with a penalty of up to $1,000 for failing to do so.
